Banksmen / Yard Ops

This course is intended for all staff who are exposed to hazardous substances, but will particularly benefit delegates who are involved with the preparation of risk assessments within their work environment. The course will give delegates an understanding of every employers duty under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) 2002 to identify substances in the workplace and to assess whether they present a risk to employed persons.

CSCS Test Revision Training

This course provides supported revision for candidates who are required to pass the CSCS Touch Screen test.

Fire Marshalls

This course ensures that nominated people can effectively carry out their duties as a fire marshall. A Fire Marshall is recommended for all work locations and some locations will require several Marshalls to ensure safety of the workforce in the event of a fire or other serious incident.

Fire Safety Awareness

This course is for all workers to raise awareness of dangers of fire in the workplace and by doing so reducing the risk of fire incidents.

First Aid - Emergency - was Appointed Person

This course is for staff who need a basic grounding in first aid or employees acting as their company's appointed person. It is also for staff assisting a qualified first aider and for businesses with a low risk working environment and less than 50 people. An 'Appointed Person' certificate valid for 3 years is issued on completion of the course.

First Aid - Full (Now 3 Day)

This course will run for a total of 18 hours including the examination. Maximum of 6 hours per day. At the end of the course the examination is conducted by two independent assessors. Successful candidates receive a certificate valid for 3 years from the examination date. This course is HSE approved.

Hand Arm Vibration (White Finger) Training

Hand arm vibration is transmitted from work processes into workers’ hands and arms. It is most commonly caused by operating hand held power tools. Regular and frequent exposure to hand arm vibration can lead to permanent health effects collectively known as hand arm vibration syndrome and other specific diseases. This course introduces the Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2006 and ensures that employers are fully aware of their responsibilities under this legislation.

IOSH Managing Safely

Managing Safely is a course for managers and supervisors in any sector and any organisation. It’s designed to give managers all they need to know to help them handle health and safety in their teams. The flexible new high impact programme covers all the main health and safety issues, and includes a session tackling the environment too. The course lasts for 24 hours in total. Ladders and Steps

This course is intended for staff who use ladders and steps in the workplace. It demonstrates the duties of the employee as well as the employer under the Work at Height Regulations 2005. As well as demonstrating the safe use, maintenance and inspection of individual items of access equipment a practical element.

LPG Safe Carriage

This course covers the employers responsibility under the ADR Regulations to have "adequate training" for their staff who have to transport and store LPG gas. This course covers legal requirements and recommended best practice.

Man-riding Tripod and Winch

This course is run along side the escape sets and gas detector course. Course covers inspection, use and examination of the tripod and winch.

Manual Handling - Operations

The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 require that employers are responsible for ensuring that all staff who lift or move loads are trained and this course will help employers comply with this legislation. It will teach delegates how to identify risks, develop and understanding of what is being moved and be able to determine the safest method of handling to avoid injury. The course includes assessing risk, loading techniques, tail-lift use and load restraint.

This course covers safe loading and securing of small mobile plant including mini diggers. This course is ideal for utilities contractors where operators are well trained for machine use e.g. excavation but have not received formal training on transportation, trailer checks and law and securing of plant for transport

Non - licenced asbestos ( Cement and textured coatings)

Accredited by UKATA, this course will allow candidates to undertake non licensed asbestos works in accordance with the Control of Asbestos regulations 2006 and all associated Codes of practice. Ideal candidates for this training would include those whose work will knowingly disturb asbestos containing materials during the course of their work activities, including building maintenance workers and supervisory personnel, and building maintenance managers.

This course is for people who are required to inspect, use, transport and maintain Oxy Fuel Systems. This course covers the legal requirements, servicing, safety and igniting of Oxy fuel systems.

P401: Identification of Asbestos in Bulk Samples

This module provides theoretical and practical knowledge in the technique of Asbestos sample identification using polarised light microscopy (PLM). The module is at a proficiency level which must aim to provide the student with practical knowledge and skills to able to carry out the stated work. To pass the practical assessment for this module, the candidate will normally need to have some practical experience with polarised light microscopy and or asbestos identification.

P402:Building Surveys & Sampling for Asbestos

This module provides background and practical knowledge in the survey of buildings for asbestos and to provide gerneral guidance on management procedures necessary to minimise exposure to any identified asbestos. To gain this certificate candidates will need to provide evidence of field proficiency, normally the submission of reports which include reports which include type 2 or type 3 sampling, submitted within six months of the exam.

P403: Asbestos Fibre Counting (PCM)

This module provides theoretical and practical knowledge in the techniques of fibre counting of asbestos air samples using phase contrast microscopy (PCM). The module is a proficiency level which must aim to provide the student with the practical knowledge and skills to be able to carry out the stated work. In conjunction with the proficiency module P404. Air sampling and clearance testing for asbestos, this will then cover the requirements of the stage 4 clearance procedure.

P404: Air Sampling and Clearance Testing of Asbestos

This module provides theoretical and practical knowledge in the techniques of air sampling and clearance testing of Asbestos. This module is at a proficiency level which must aim to provide the student with the practical knowledge and skills to be able to carry out the stated work. The analysis of membrane filter samples by phase contrast microscopy is covered by module P403. In conjunction with P403 Asbestos Fibre Counting (PCM). This will cover the requirements of stage 4 Clearance procedure.

P405: Management of Asbestos

This module is a proficiency level which must aim to provide the stident with the practical knowledge and skills to manage asbestos in buildings and give a knowledge base to audit asbestos removal projects.

P406: Supervision and management of the safe removal and disposal of asbestos

This course aims to provide the training needs for supervisory licence holder's as specified in HSG247. The module is at proficiency level which provides the student with the practical knowledge and skills to be able to act as a supervisory licence holder.

PASMA Mobile Access Tower

This course is aimed at users of mobile access towers (both alloy and fibreglass) and instructs delegates on how to safely erect, move, inspect and dismantle mobile access towers. The course is recognised by the HSE. The official PASMA (Prefabricated Access Suppliers and Manufacturers Association) certification satisfies the ‘Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998’ (PUWER) and the ‘Work at Height Regulations 2005.’

Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) & RCD Testing

Working At Height

This course is based around the Work at Height Regulations 2005. It is designed to give delegates an understanding of the regulations, and what these mean for the employee as well as the employer. The course covers risk assessments and shows delegates how to plan any work at height, including equipment selection and how to put measures into place to prevent falls. The course can be tailored to individual companies needs.
